It’s board game playing season

Also known to less enthusiastic game players as Christmas time

If you’ve watched our new YouTube video you’ll know that we’re fully into the Christmas flow. Decorations are up, Baileys is being drunk and presents are being panic bought.

Brace yourself for Grace’s true love… board games.

I (Grace) made a promise to you all on Instagram that I’d go through some board game recommendations and here we are. If you were not someone who signed up for an appearance of my inner board game geek then please feel free to close this email.

🎲Group games - You know, the evenings where certain players aren’t always concentrating or where you have the odd player that doesn’t take games seriously. Yeah for this type of game playing I recommend Codenames, The Logo Game and Articulate. These are great for mixed ages, really good fun, don’t take too long and are games we play every Christmas. They are all team games and so hopefully you can continue playing and won’t miss that player that’s had too much to drink or fallen asleep on the sofa.

👥2 Players - Whether you fancy a date night or just want to play a game with a friend or family member then here’s what Ryan and I recommend. Carcassonne, Lost Cities & Patchwork. Carcassonne is the longest of the three to play and if you really fancy going wild, then check out some of the expansions they do too.

💙For the Board Game Lovers -  Catan , Carcassonne & Pandemic. What can I say, Carcassonne is a favourite in our house. Catan has plenty of expansion packs also. Pandemic is a twist on all of them, if you fancy a game that’s possibly a tad too close to home then this may be the one to try. What’s interesting is that you actually play it together as a team rather than against players…

🃏Finally the card games - Strawberry sunset & Phase 10 are two firm favourites in our house. Strawberry sunset is a pretty game where you build strawberry plants to score points - a little like an ever changing jigsaw puzzle and Phase 10 is a rummy type card game that’s very addictive.
